The Drowsy Chaperone

Here's Bailey in her role as "Kitty" in the Summit High School's production of "THE DROWSY CHAPERONE". For those of you who haven't heard of this play, it came out in 2006 and it's first year won 6 Tony awards. It is full of funny scenes, great songs, hilarious characters - overall a wonderful show. And Bailey and her drama friends were outstanding. I was blessed to be involved in this tremendous experience and am sad that it is almost over. Ta-Da!!!

HOORAY FOR USA!! We had an incredible family vacation once again. We were blessed to be able to visit our nation's capitol- and see fireworks on the Forth of July sitting at the park by the White House! We also were there on, I think, the HOTTEST day of the year. Yes, it was in the high 90's, so we spend most of our time indoors visiting the wonderful Smithsonian museums. They have an enormous collection of fascinating, historical, beautiful, educational items on display on the mall in D.C. We could have spent another few days just seeing everything.
-But alas, you can only be away for so long and we had to move on to NYC!!
What an incredible spectacle. (and also hot as heck).
The crowds of tourists, the endless skyscrapers, the city parks, the traffic, the giant billboards, the phenomenal shows, the food....I could go on, but it would take hours..

It was a whirlwind of sights and sounds and best of all, we got to do it together.

Um.....Blog? Oh yea.

Since Christmas, really? I was never any good at journals either.
So, the biggest change is Miss Bailey has kind of switched gears and gone from dance classes as her life, to DRAMA as her life. Her lastest debut was in the local production of West Side Story, of which she was INCREDIBLE!!! I'm not just saying that. She has a natural ease and presence onstage that has revealed itself. Her next endeaver will be auditioning for her school's production of "The Drowsey Chapperone" - a musical comedy set in the 1920's. This video is what she will sing for her audition piece.

I think she's got a pretty good chance, don't you?

Happy New Year

So
Better late than never on the Holiday posting!

We survived the hectic holiday. It's funny how every year, I think to myself, this year I'm going to plan ahead and simplify this holiday season.
It never seems to work out that way! I shouldn't complain though, we did some awesome stuff. We got to see the Christmas lights display at Portland International Raceway - which is really fun, and Bailey and I got to go to our traditional Christmas Tea at the Heathman Hotel in downtown Portland with out bestest buddies, Lisa & Jordyn, and Amy & Brooke. We look forward to this every year when we can dress up, eat and drink off fancy dishes, and just plain be girly. Afterwards we go shopping downtown, which I think is just as fun as the Tea! Lisa and I have been taking Bailey and Jordyn since they were 2 years old and they still enjoy it just as much as when they were little ones. -So do Lisa, Amy and I.

Hello New Friend

We decided the house was very lonely without our little Chloe, and so after some encouragement from Mark and Bailey, we adopted our newest kitty. I was hesitant at first, having gone through Chloe's illness and the hurt no quite gone, but after having her here, it's been great.

And so, meet our new kitty:
Princess Luna Half Stache
(Luna for short, Half Stache for half a mustache).

She is very loving and cute as can be. We got her after visiting her at the Humane Society a couple of times. Welcome little friend.

Goodbye Old Friend

We had to say goodbye to our sweet little one in December. Chloe had been fighting E-Coli for about 2 months and her old 20 year old cat system just couldn't take it anymore.

When Mark and I first got married 20 years ago, he brought me home this little junkyard kitten to keep me company all those lonely hours he was starting up his Snap-On business. Not knowing a soul in Oregon at the time, Chloe kept me company and gave me love 24-7.

She beat the odds after almost loosing her after moving, and then moving again to Bend. I have only fond memories of her and she will always be special to me.

Goodbye dear friend.
